BIO

Symbiode Records are delighted to introduce Georgia Gordon.

Based in Edinburgh and born in the Scottish Borders, 20 year old Georgia has been writing and gigging from the age of 15. Starting off as a solo acoustic singer-songwriter, Gordon has since evolved, now with a full band behind her, belting out a unique bluesy/early RnB sound. Her mesmerising voice and lyrics appeal to audiences both old and new and a recent collaboration has produced ‘Breathe Me In’, the first single to emerge from the venture ‘Leith Bass Team’ with Alex Tronic Records producer Paul Croan. As ‘Artist of the Week’ in the Scotland on Sunday, ‘Breathe Me In’ is described as having an ambient vibe and light dub beat. This collaboration however is an exploration out of Gordon’s usual comfort zone and with the 4 piece band behind her, she has been compared to artists like Alabama Shakes and KT Tunstall with a dash of Alison Mosshart.

Gordon has released two EP’s, ‘Prettiest Criminal’ being her most recent and successful. Released with new Edinburgh based label Symbiode Records, you can tell straight away that there has been a lot of effort put into crafting this new record. Arresting vocals, unique and strikingly poetic lyrics perfectly matched by the melodies. A young singer/songwriter whose early exposure to live audiences has produced a confident artist whose stage presence belies her 20 years.

QUOTES

‘bound for bigger and better things’ and

‘a huskily mature sound with a tone and personality pitched somewhere between folk and rock' - David PollockThe Scotsman at her EP launch which also matched her to Beth Orton.

‘already a star in the making’

- Celtic Connections

‘unique and strikingly poetic lyrics, coupled with arresting vocals and tunes which belie her years’

Steve Tulipana, booker at The Record Bar, Kansas City

‘What I like is the intelligence and poetry of her lyrics and the way they're so perfectly matched by the melodies - it's nice that the arrangements add energy but don't swamp the sensitive quality of the songs.’

- a fan at her EP launch, held at The Jazz Bar, Edinburgh
